In Matthew chapter 5, Jesus told His listeners, "You are the salt of the earth." Indeed, Christ made it clear that His followers can, and should, have an influence upon society. Through "The Salt Block" individuals are encouraged to be the special salt of which our Savior spoke.
"The Salt Block" is an unique radio outreach of the Christian Deer Hunters Association - a non-profit, interdenominational ministry to the hunting world. During this quarter-hour program, entries from the various volumes of the association's pocket-sized booklet Devotions for Deer Hunters are read as are letters from listeners and others influenced by or interested in the work of the association. The objectives, goals, and unique outreaches of the Christian Deer Hunters Association are also shared through the personal testimonies of association members from across the country. Each week, listeners are invited to send for their free copy of the current volume of Devotions for Deer Hunters.
The initial "seed money" to pay for airtime has been given by family and friends in memory of Christian Deer Hunters Association member Bob Rakow. Bob (who was living in Mesa, AZ with his wife, Marie) went to be with the Lord in August of 1998. It is hoped that this avenue of the association's ministry will not only continue, but also expand through the generous support of program listeners and other specially designated gifts.
