THE BIG BUCK'S BIOGRAPHY
Bambi Jr., or "BJ", as we call him is our "Big Guy" at Animal Land. He was born at the park in 1995 and was the runt of a set of triplets who was abandoned by his mother when she did not have enough milk to feed all three fawns. BJ was bottle fed from the age of 3 days old. His father, Bambi, reigned as Animal Land's top whitetail buck for many years until his death in the mid 1990's. BJ is now following in his father's footsteps and looks like he may even exceed his father's popularity.
As a 4 year old in 1999 BJ scored 168 on the Boone and Crockett scale of antler measurement. In 2000 he added over 30 inches of antler to total out at just over 200 points - A trophy rack in all respects. His 2000 rack sports 11 measurable tines with 9" brow tines and a sustained circumference of over 5" on his main beams.
When he isn't spending his days eating out of the hands of young and old alike at Animal Land, BJ is not camera shy and has been involved in some very interesting photo shoots.
The September 1999 issue of Sportsman's News pictured on this site shows BJ's 168 point rack in full velvet. This photo was taken in August of 1999.
One of BJ's most notable photo shoots occurred in the early fall of 2000 when he was the focus of a photo shoot for the Christian Deer Hunter's Association. Many photos were taken of BJ in full antler along with some strategically placed hunters. These photos are now being used in several ways to spread the word of God to deer hunters around the world.
